Karma has Kissed me Again!!! Fall 2014 collection!

Hello friends! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer! I know mine was decent, and the weather, until recently was very mild and enjoyable. The past three weeks have been not so pleasant. Not that it isn't anything I cannot get over, but for a blogger, difficult things arose making blogging difficult. About 4 week ago, my computer took a crap! I have been without a computer, which means no blogging. I could probably pre write posts from a friends computer, but it is so much of a hassle, I will hopefully have a new one in the next few weeks. Then, a week before my shipment of Karma's Kiss came in, my thumb nail ripped off, then my pointy finger nail broke off. I am now down to little nubbins.

Anyhow, enough of my sob story and onto the lovely fall colors I was sent by Karma's Kiss Lacquer. These are not only pretty polishes, but very versatile!

These photos were edited without my beloved Paint Shop Pro, so you will have to bear with me. I am not really proud of these photos, and I plan to re-swatch them in the near future as soon as I have some nails again, and a computer to post them with.

First up, we have Fall To Your Leaves. This is my absolute favorite polish from the collection, and this will be one I wear often this fall. It applied vey smooth, and took only two coats for full coverage. It levels nicely and has a very pretty holo to it. It is described on the store website as, "A light brown holographic with pink/lavender shimmer mixed it for that special autumn look of dried fallen leaves." The description is very accurate!

The second polish I have for you from the fall collection is The Little Liar. This polish shifts between royal blue and purple. It is a jelly finish and it is super squishy! The store page describes this polish as, "Plum jelly based duo chrome micro glitter. Shifts from purple to royal blue.
Opaque in 2 to 3 coats, or can be layered over black for a more dramatic effect." I did just as the description suggested and did a couple by itself, and a couple over black. I used two coats on the nail of them by their self, and one coat over black. Application was smooth and nice.

Without flash: Pointer and middle finger alone, ring and pinky over black.

Next up I have Poison Thy Ivy. This is a dark, rich green color perfect for fall. The website describes it as, "Deep forest green jelly with green micro glitter and holographic micro glitter to give it more depth." I also think this polish would be perfect for Christmas tree nail art or holiday nail art. Application was smooth and I had no issues with the formula.

This next one is my second favorite of the collection. It is called Berry Me Deeply. It is super versatile and squishy!!! It is a bright pink. The store page describes it as, "
Pink berry colored jelly with multi sized holographic pigment.
Opaque in 2 to 3 coats, or can be layered over another color to change/enhance the coloring effect.
Dries semi matte, so a good quality top coat is advised." Honestly it was pretty shiny for me without a top coat added. The swatch photos are of two coats on my pointer and middle finger, and one coat over black on my ring and pinky finger. Application was smooth, and I had no issues with the formula.

Finally, there is a beautiful black and blue textured glitter in the fall collection called Midnight Rendezvous. The website description says, "Navy blue jelly full of blue and silver holographic glitter.
Opaque in 1 to 2 coats.
Shake well before use to ensure an even distribution of glitters.
A good smoothing top coat is recommended to smooth out the surface."
I liked this polish, and the way it looks, but I struggled a little bit with application. Not because of the maker, or issues with the formula, but because of my nubby nails and not being great at texture like application.

I hope you enjoyed these swatches and see one you like! If you could buy now, is there any particular one you are really liking? Let me know in the comments! Also, be sure to visit Karma's Kiss Lacquer and check out her beautiful polishes.

Nail Art Challenges by Friends and Family

HELLLLLLL-oh! Hope everyone is having a fabulous week! I know I am! :)

Let me start off by saying, I love to try new nail art on a regular basis. I have a HUGE Pinterest board of nail art just to inspire me or challenge myself. I like to try to do what others have done. It's fun and therapeutic for my depression.

I also find joy in trying things my friends and family post to my Facebook wall. I know I have probably seen the nails in question before, or have them pinned, but... I love a family member or friend saw them and thought of me enough to post them to my wall.

For three days now, my sister in law has been trying to show me a photo of nail art. Every time she would send it through Facebook messages, I could not see it. So, tonight she finally screen capped the image and posted it to my wall. When I saw the nails in question, I knew I had seen them before, but I wanted to try them out anyhow. I also had a new teeeeny tiny nail art brush I bought a couple months ago that I wanted to try, and this gave me the perfect excuse.

Now to get to the photo she posted for me....

Since this photo had obviously had the watermark removed of the original artist, I did a reverse Google image search for it. I believe these belong to "The Little Canvas". and you can find these nails here:

http://www.thelittlecanvas.com/2012/09/31-day-challenge-day-7-rainbow-nails.html

Now, onto my try at these beauties...

First I painted my nails a rainbow of creamy colors.

Then added the white and black art. Let me say this... the nail art brush I bought was not that great. I wish I had used a striping brush instead!

These could have been neater, but as I stated, my nail art brush was not great! I will be doing these again sometime and trying to be neater.

Thanks Sis (Sherry)! It was a fun nail art to do!!!

Until next time~

Pahlish, A New Discovery - and a GIVEAWAY!

Hello readers and friends. I know I have been absent awhile, but I am not going to make excuses other than to say this has been an awful year for my family, and we moved yet AGAIN. I am sure you don't want to hear the drama, so I will spare it for you! Anyhow, I do have a topic to talk about with you today that I am sure some of you can relate to. Discovering a new brand of polish you LOVE!

A couple months back I was sent a Pahlish brand polish by a friend who RAOK'd (Random Act of Kindness). She saw I had Blood of the Mountain on my wish list, and included it in my gift box. A few weeks later, in a group swap I am involved in, I received another Pahlish. I loved them in the bottle, and I had not had time to try them out other than swatching them on a nail stick, so, I decided to hunt a few more down to purchase. This is where I admit, Store Envy is a problem for me. I can get into so much trouble on Store Envy financially. I found quite a few at great prices on Store Envy and ordered them. Yesterday, I got to sit down and try a couple of the three I have out. I fell in LOVE. The formula, finishes, and colors are fabulous. So today, I have Blood of the Mountain to show you. Before we get to that, I would like to apologize for my nubbins. Moving killed my nails this time around and I had a couple break pretty low.

The formula on this was very smooth and easy to apply. I used two coats and topped this with Ellagee Glass Top Coat. It is described on the Pahlish store website as, "Garnet red holographic with gold and pink metallic microflakes." The description is accurate. Blood of the Mountain retails for $9.50 on their store website. All of the below photos are in direct afternoon sun.

Have you ever started collecting a brand without even trying it first? Is Store Envy/Pinterest stores hard for you to resist when you see a brand there that you really want? Leave me comments below letting me know your thoughts!

More From New Indie Brand... Karma's Kiss!

I know I promised these yesterday, but I swear, things were crazy here again. I have been trying to get ready for a garage sale to help raise money for my son's surgeries this summer. Wouldn't you know, I spent all that time marking stuff and getting ready, and now we have pouring rain! So frustrating! So, since the rain isn't letting up, I have time to sit down and show you the rest of these beauties.

Karma's Kiss will be launching June 15th. The line-up of new polishes were sent to me for swatching and review purposes. The opinions are my own and are not influenced by anyone.

You can view the first half of swatches here: http://coveredbycolor.blogspot.com/2014/06/karmas-kiss-new-indie-polish-coming-soon.html

The first beauty I have to show you today is "Hot Momma". Hot Momma is described as "Hot pink holo jelly. Looks great over white base or for a more intense look, try it over a neon pink polish." The description is accurate in my opinion, however, I didn't need to layer it over white. I had full opacity with just three thin coats. It applied evenly and without any issues. I loved that this polish had an orange hue to it in certain lights/angles! The swatch photos are of three thin coats with HK Girl topcoat.

Next up, we have an awesome polish for Fourth of July, Memorial Day, or any other patriotic moment! This polish was so fun to put on. "Courageous" is described, "A glittery top coat for those special red, white and blue occasions. Made with Silver holo mini stars, blue mini stars and red triangles in a clear base." At some angles, the red from the triangles reflects off the silver stars and can give the appearance that there is red stars in there too! This applied fairly well. I did have to fish a little bit for the stars, but it wasn't too much work or trouble. This polish holds a special place in my heart since my husband is a disabled veteran! So I will be wearing it for those special patriotic holidays! For the swatches I used Sally Hansen in a Flash (nude) and Blue Away as undies, and topped with HK Girl top coat.

The next swatches are of "Eat Your Greens". It is described as "Olive toned green with medium intensity linear holo." Again, the description s accurate and there were no application issues. It applied smooth and I only used two thin coats for full opacity. This shade of green did not flatter my skin tone, but I am one of THOSE polish girls who will wear it anyhow! :) These swatches are with HK Girl topcoat.

Next up we have a Karma Royale. This polish is described as, "A purple, medium to high intensity linear holo." Again, accurate description, and great application. It applied smooth and it was very opaque....AND IT'S PURPLE!!! Two thin coats were used for these swatches and it was topped with HK Girl topcoat.

Next up, we have "Kara Karibbean". It is described as, "A very sparkly glitter top coat made with aqua, blue and purple hexes of various sizes in a clear base that has a touch of holo powder added for that extra shimmer. Great when paired up with Aqua Vitae or Karma Royale." This is a super sparkly bottle of goodness! I have this thing about putting glitter over a holographic polish, so instead I chose to use it over Zoya Julie.  decided to use the sponge method to do a full coverage accent nail with this. These swatches are with no topcoat.

Finally, we have a fantastic shifting topcoat called "Shift Eyes". It is described as, "Purple tinted micro glass flecks that enhance the appearance of any polish." Those flecks are so teeny! I love this! I am not a fan of huge flecks or flakies, so this was perfect for my needs. It applied very smooth and I chose to swatch it over various colors so you can see how it looks. These swatches are (pointer to pinky) over OPI Amazeon-Amazeoff, Sally Hansen Grape Going, A England Camelot, and Sally Hansen Flashy Fuschia.

That is all of them!!! I highly recommend you give these a shot. There was no staining or formula issues, the two I have wore for a couple days have been great in terms of wear time. I wore Karma Royale for three days with no tip war or chipping. I wore Merlot To Go for a couple days and had no wear issues with that one either.

You can find the shop here:

You can check out the Karma's Kiss Facebook for updates and information here:

I was also told that anyone who makes a purchase on opening day will receive a special surprise! So, something FREE!!!! I m not sure what it is, but who doesn't like surprises??

Until laters, taters!

Karma's Kiss... a new indie polish coming soon!

Hello again! Things around my house have been a mess! Kids got out of school, we traveled a bit, and now I am home for awhile until next week when we will be of again. I love this time of year and staying busy! usually it is spending time with the kids, but they are now old enough to want to visit and stay with friends and do grown up teenager stuffs. I can't wait for them to be home, it means trips to the lake to go boating and tubing.

Today, I have some new polishes form Karma's Kiss for you. Karma's Kiss will be releasing June 15th, and you won't want to miss these. Today I have the first five of the collection, and tomorrow I will have the other six. This is a photo heavy post so be prepared! Let's get right to it, shall we?

First up we have "Pennies for Your Karma". This is described as "A coppery, medium intensity holo finish, with a look of a metallic shimmer." I have to agree with the description. This look just like the color of pennies! In all honesty, this is not my typical polish color, and I don't think it is the most flattering to my skin tone on most occasions, but I liked this one. It went on smooth and I had great opacity with one coat. This is shown with two coats and no topcoat.

Next up we have "Peach Fizz". This is described as "Textured polish with the added touch of holographic micro glitter for that added sparkle. Can be worn by itself or with a top coat for a smooth finish." The description is accurate and it is GORGEOUS! It is very pretty and it sparkles!!! This is 3 coats tototal opacity and it was a little sheer for me with one coat. These swatches also are topped with HK Girl top coat.

Next up is my favorite holographic polish of the collection. "Merlot to Go..." is described as "Merlot colored, rich with a higher intensity linear and scattered holo." It is beautiful an the description is accurate. The application was very easy and I had no issues with the polish. Since this is sort of my boys' school colors, it will be used all wrestling season!!! I also love the semi orange/coral shift I get in the sun. These swatches are two coats with no topcoat.

The next photos and swatches I have to share with you are "Aqua Vitae". It is describe as "Aqua blue holo polish with a medium holo effect and a tiny touch of that extra shimmer." This is a great shade of blue. It reminds me of tropical waters. The description is accurate and for these swatches I used 2 coats no top coat. The formula was smooth and applied nicely.

Finally for today is "Black magic". It is described as "A sparkly glittery top coat of fine and extra fine black, purple and silver holo glitters in a clear base." This was one of three glitter polishes I was sent. All three were pretty magnificent and versatile. There was great coverage of glitter with one coat. The base to glitter ratio is great. You could wear this polish over just about anything, and you can build it up nicely for a full coverage glitter. This is one coat over Sally Hansen's "Flashy Fuschia".
